THE PROBLEM- REACHING A NEW MISSIONS FIELD

Every year since 1995, when abortion on demand was legalized in Guyana... unknowing to most of these women, their action is a part of Satan's plan to destroy our already underpopulated nation. Ever since God used His own image as the blueprint for the first man and woman, Satan has been attempting to destroy human life. His attempts have taken many forms over the thousands of years of human history, but abortion has been his most insidious - and most successful- strategy. "The thief comes only to steal and kill & destroy..." John 10:10a.

OVER 42,000,000 PREBORN  HUMAN CHILDREN LOSE THEIR LIVES TO ABORTION AROUND THE WORLD EVERY YEAR.

WE MUST REACH THIS MISSION FIELD FOR CHRIST!

THE CHALLENGE- THE LAW

GUYANA:Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act 1995 (Act No 7 of 14 June 1995)

General Points: YOU CAN HAVE AN ABORTION UP TO NINE MONTHS

The 1995 law divides pregnancy into four time periods. Up to the eight-week pf pregnancy, an abortion may be performed at the request of the pregnant woman by a medical practitioner or person under his or her supervision in any setting. Between the eighth and twelfth weeks of pregnancy, an abortion may be performed by a medical practitioner in an approved institution, after the approval of two medical practitioners.

After sixteen weeks, an abortion may be performed only if three medical practitioners are of the good faith opinion that the abortion is necessary to save the pregnant woman's life or to prevent grave permanent injury to her health or that of her child.

Before any abortion can be performed, the pregnant woman must undergo counseling and wait 48 hours. A woman of sound mind does not need the consent of her parents, guardian, or husband to obtain an abortion. (Information from UN fact sheet).

Termination of pregnancy: CHILDREN CAN REQUEST ABORTION

Sect. 8(3) In the treatment of the termination of a pregnancy of a child of any age, while the medical practitioner or authorized medical practitioner, as the case may be, may encourage the child to inform her parents, he is not required either to obtain the consent of her parents or guardian or to notify them.

Penalties-CHRISTIAN PHYSICIANS CAN BE JAILED!

Sect. 12(3) Where any medical practitioner, authorized medical practitioner,  approved institution of a person employed by or working in or any other person with lawful access to any approved institution contravenes Section 14, the medical practitioner, the person owning or managing the approved institution or another person shall be liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of one hundred thousand dollars and imprisonment for one year.

(4) Any person who contravenes or refuses or fails to comply with any provision of this Act or the regulations made thereunder, and for which no penalty has been prescribed by this Act or the Criminal Law (Offenses) Act shall be liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of ten thousand dollars and imprisonment for three months.

EPAS- FORMATION AND MISSION

EPAS was co founded by Dr. Clarence Charles & Dr. Ravindra Shiwnandan in 1995.

The mission of EPAS is to join forces with like minded persons and groups to multiply Christ-centered, life-giving  ministries wherever abortion exists or the sanctity of human life is diminished. Our purpose is to work to see people receive new life in Christ and that their lives are fully restored to their God-given value. "Our focus is to equip, empower, and release leaders for life-giving ministry wherever the Lord enables us to do so. We seek to equip the Church to bring a Spirit filled, gospel-centered, life affirming message to the world and walk in her God-given authority to defend life and rescue those being led away to death (Proverbs 24:11)

EPAS- PRAYER NEEDS

  1.  To continue to establish partnerships for prayer, resources and funding.

  2. to find a set of intercessors to bear up this ministry to God.

  3. To set up offices in Essequibo and Berbice.

EPAS -STRATEGY

We accomplish our purpose by:

  1.  Setting EPAS offices in strategic locations

  2.  Conducting Church Leaders Training   (CLT) to sensitise and equip people to identify sanctity of life issues and to enhance their skills to counsel and assist parents with unwanted or crisis pregnancies

  3. Counsel mothers with unwanted pregnancies with the aim to prevent abortions.

  4. Develop key partnerships both local and abroad to meet our objectives.
